Back From The Galapagos!

I’m just back from an 8 night adventure with Hurtigruten in the Galapagos and it was absolutely magical. We spent two nights in Quito exploring the colonial city and nearby Cotopaxi Volcano before flying out to the Galapagos Islands for 6 nights on the Santa Cruz II exploring the Central and Eastern Islands of the Galapagos.

Every morning the Expedition Leader would greet us over the intercom system “Good morning Explorers!” and each day brought us new adventures and explorations. We saw 12 of the 15 endemic animals on the Galapagos Big 15 and spent our days snorkeling, taking panga rides, exploring the edges of the shore by kayak and walking trails and beaches to see wildlife up-close.

The Galapagos is a bucket-list experience for so many and I’d encourage you to experience it sooner rather than later — you’ll want to be in good enough physical shape to enjoy the walks and snorkeling and to get in/out of the zodiacs with ease. For families wondering if they should take their kids, it’s an experience best suited for teens and young adults, but I also had some clients enjoy the Galapagos on their own this past summer while the kids were at sleepaway camp, so that’s a great option too.

October News From VBH Travel

Things have been humming here at VBH Travel… even though the time immediately after summer tends to be a little slower for travel, it’s hard to feel that way here at the office! September and October have VBH clients exploring Croatia, England, France, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, Scotland, and Spain on custom designed itineraries. For more relaxation, we have honeymooners celebrating their nuptials in Aruba and several groups of friends escaping together to the beaches of Mexico.

Back to School means looking at the calendar to see when you’d like to go away during the upcoming school year and we are always happy to help! Holly, Lauren and I have been busy helping people make plans for upcoming breaks in November, December, February and April and our plan-ahead clients are already firming up their arrangements for summer too! And if you’re not really sure where you want to go, we are happy to help you brainstorm based on your interests, the ages of the travelers in your group and your other needs.

In general, if you have to travel over peak times, earlier is almost always better for securing the best options and value for your vacation dollar, so even if your trip seems far away, don’t hesitate to reach out for a call so we can come up with a strategy to help make your vacation dreams a reality!
